I still maintain that any substance abstained from that is allowed during each mini-Easter should in some direct way give glory to God. You can bet I was praising Him as that gooey delectable tooth-rotting pulverized bean derivative melted in my mouth XP
Though I suppose as you run around pwning n00bs and raising pixelated crimson tides, you COULD get away with substituting Allahu Akbar! in lieu of your constant server rickrolling, maybe yes? ^_^

Re: glorification-- as should every action of ours strive to be! :D
Also, I like to think that I already put the fear of God in them as it is, my pet~
Although perhaps a Lenten texture spray might not be entirely inappropriate... :3

I can see you now -- Mads, the Purple Peril!
I've been praying for them intensely recently, but darned if sometimes it doesn't seem like anyone's listening!
Oi, do I know that feeling. But you know, we're not responsible for the fruits, just the planting.
Also, I knew that about Lent. Look up Refreshment Sunday, too -- that one's a doozy.

I looked it up-- sounds like the same thing to me, unless I'm missing sumpin!
No, Refreshment Sunday (at least in Lent) is special.
1)Dedicated to the Virgin, it's the original Mother's Day. (In England, servants used to be given the weekend off so they could go home and visit their mothers.) Flowers on the altar (not usual in Lent). Vestments are rose-colored. AND no fasting.
You counting tabletop roleplaying games as Lentstuff? On the 21st, a Saturday, there is D&D Game Day. http://www.dndgameday.com/You can finally get a chance to check it out. And preview some races and classes from the upcoming PHB2 to boot. And you get to take home a miniature of the character you play! Prepainted. I'm gonna be going with some friends, gonna see how many of them don't want their minis. I loves my minis. It's been a while since I've posted photos of minis, hasn't it...
Oh, that page has a list of participating locations too.

Sorry, man, in another confluence of extremely eerie coincidences, that weekend seems to be earmarked for a retreat I was looking at. If the retreat doesn't work out, I'll look into it, as I really am dying to play a real game, but, oh, the demands of the kingdom do tug at me so...
But by buying that system on Monday, your purchase took place an entire WEEK after my own. I would then argue that your MOTHER is the one who is, in fact, biting MY style.
Keep a close eye on her- I haven't had it in me to draw Peach 'n' Daisy smut lately, and she may just be taking up that particularly nasty torch.
(seriously, though, it is a pretty sweet laptop, and for an absolute STEAL of a price. Good pick!)

Don't praise me too much, I walked into an Office Depot and saw it had the best price and rebate for the best proportional power. Thank the economy! :V
Bizarrely enough, it's her hair, particularly the rooster-comb *thing* on the top of her head, that bothers me the most.
I should get better about Lent, really. Although this year I'm not so much giving something up as I am trying to correct some behaviors that I've started to find distressing, like increasingly casual swearing and letting my temper take the reins more often. It's a start, I think, and unlike previous years, I don't think I'll be tempted to revert once Lent is over.

Oh, you mean the Crimson Viper :D? It's the hot new hairstyle for this summer. I suppose we (and her stylist) should just be thankful she didn't choose "Aqua Moose" as a codename instead.
I gave up worrying for Lent one year, back in my dead broke, single-parent days when my retirement plan was to get the kid through college and then kill myself. I was not in a very trusting frame of mind, but making a conscious effort to stop worrying really helped. And almost none of the bad things I was worrying about turned into realities.
Good thing, too, because the kid never did graduate. :D

I'm not doing very well with regards behaving my wandering eyes and imagination either, so you are nevar alone! It's the inclination to discipline is what counts I suppose, so though we may be clutching the wagon desperately, we're still on the right wagon at least. :D

I remember when my family learned about the Sunday exemption from fasts deal. It was back during my WOW kick, so just guess what I gave up. I remember being elated and started playing WOW right after getting back from church. When my dad asked, I explained. He pretty much said if I didn't have the self discipline to abstain from the game for forty days, Sunday pardon or not, I wasn't as tough as he thought I was. The guilt set in and I logged off. Ah well, such is life with a former green beret.
I really need to try TF2 one of these days. I love the little movies on their site.

Dohohohohoo, in point of fact, it seems that circumstances seem to conspire to keep me from TF2 anyway, even on Sundays, and so I end up giving it up anyway. And, yeah, me and Allie do think in some way that the resumption of fun times on Sundays seems a little bit like a copout, and diminishes the sacrifice somewhat. But that's just the ticklings of pride talking, I'd say; mostly we're just plain not used to it, that's all. It's all in the rationale behind what you do (as long as the action is itself is good or neutral, of course)-- I decided to go as far as to drink Coke on Sundays, but I definitely need to abstain from my favorite game, as I definitely exhibit my semi-addictive personality quirk whenever I am overexposed to it. And don't let what your father said getya down; dads have a tendency to be a little blunt about that sort of thing, but they have their own expectations to deal with themselves. Just trust in the Father that knows all in your heart and sees what is hidden in secret. :3 | |
