| Russian Wrestling Is Always Number One!! |

I enjoy a lot of things by proxy. This is particularly true for things I can't be bothered to do, watch, or play, but I appreciate it by virtue of someone else enjoying it. Take, for instance, my brothers and the videogames they play; just watching them go through a game is usually enough for me.
Currently, my brother has been mastering the very character I thought I would regularly use in Street Fighter 4, Zangief. You see, the analog stick isn't very kind to his preferred character Ryu, and consistently conspire to corrupt his commands, especially during online play, which just drives him up the wall. He's since moved on to the more responsive Russian bear-hugger, and his track record's steadily improved for it. In fact, he's much better at using Zangief now than I am (which isn't surprising-- I must have played about an hour of the game in the past two, three weeks).
I can't say I particularly mind-- Zangief is absolutely fricking hilarious whenever he pulls off any of his throw moves, no matter who uses him.
Right now, I'm 'playing' Rock Band 2 by putting it on No Fail mode, using the controller to get the microphone interface-- the most unobtrusive one-- and then going to the tour gigs that let you make setlists. Now I can sit back and watch 'music videos' where my band characters cavort about the screen, and I don't have to play at all.
AWESOME!
Now for some way to record this shizzle. I pray part three has some way for you to control the behaviour algorithms for the avatars.

I remember trying that once--doesn't the crowd still boo you like crazy?
And GOD, Zangief is stupidly good in IV. Damn-near-instant piledrivers.

They'll boo at first, until the whole life meter runs out, and then they seem to be resigned to it. All that matters is that the band doesn't stop playing. Dunno if versions make a difference though, we have the PS3 one.
And Zangief IS stupidly good, especially against characters that have less than 100% health. It is VERY satisfying to hit Akuma or C. Viper with the Ultra as it kills them near instantly.
Supposedly they're going to add in a "music video" mode at some point where you can just watch your characters play. Not sure about recording ability.
I also have fun watching them just go, particularly my extremely enthusiastic primary guitarist. She is all "Being a rock star is AWESOME," which is as it should be. ^^

Aw, sweet. I'd not mind being unable to decide their behavior though, if only they had better options than just Rock, Punk, Metal and Goth. Out of those, only two of them has as a feature the possibility of your character smiling, and, as you say, it is far better for everyone concerned if there is at least the illusion that everyone is enjoying themselves.
They've definitely changed the facial expressions between RB1 and RB2. Greg's punk bassist used to scowl all the time in RB1, but he smiles a lot more in RB2. It used to be that you had to do extremely well on a song to get him to look anything other than annoyed. ;p
In Guitar Hero World Tour (which we got cheap, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten it at all) you can pick their opening/ending animations, but they're brief and the list is the same for both. Plus I find character creation in GHWT to be an exercise in frustration, although that's my bias showing through. I have yet to play much with Ice Maiden Kelvena, though she did turn out pretty well.
I read briefly about a hax the other day where you can import songs from your own library, and edit existing stepfiles to fit the tune properly (is "stepfiles" the right term? I have a bad tendency to lump all these rhythm games in with the likes of DDR).
Not sure how you save them, though, and I think it only works on PS2. But, hax. HAX!!
The CEO of my bank apparently has the surname McManaman XP

I'm about as l33t haxx0r as a mushroom, and I'd just as soon pay professionals to provide them with the privilege of selling all my favorite songs to me again, thank you very much!
